Matt Davies, mapping and data expert, joins our advisory panel
We’re really excited that Matt Davies, mapping and data expert, has agreed to join the Start with Local advisory panel.
Matt worked for GIGL (Greenspace Information for London) for over 10 years, which involved him in setting up London’s most comprehensive mapped environmental data-set. He mapped London’s trees on behalf of the GLA to help focus planting in the more needy locations.
In total he has over 20 years’ experience of geographic analysis. Matt now runs his own mapping consultancy – Maplango, which focuses on the sustainability sector. He’s worked with some exciting clients including Port of Dover, Balfour Beatty, Landscape Institute, Open University, and the Greater London Authority to name a few.
We’re particularly excited with Matt’s involvement, as we’re now at a crucial stage with a joint venture with tree charity, Trees for Cities, to build a platform to support an innovative collaboration between residents and local authorities to create a significant step change in street tree planting.
We’re also interested in projects to upgrade local environments on a neighbourhood by neighbourhood basis (in keeping with our start with local approach), which need to be supported by location based environmental auditing, to provide a sound base for decision making and impact reporting.
